Today i got accepted for my job at Telesec, however I had to go take a math test too. When I came home, I sat in front of CNN for 2 hours just making sure Michael was going to be okay...then at 6:30, I cried for the first time in a while because we lost someone so great to the music world....
Michael Joe Jackson was born on August 29th 1958 to Joesph Jackson and Katherine Jackson. Growing up in a family with many brothers and sisters, God gave Michael a gift..to bless the world with music. Michael became a young star at age 5 singing as the frontman to the family music band "Jackson 5". Many successes were brought to Mr. Jackson throughout the years however many had speculated that there was something missing in his life...a childhood...a normal life?
This brought to the whole "befriending children" situation and "child molestation" accusations. Michael was being tried and humiliated publicly by ones who despised him, however God proved his innocence in 2005.
Michael Jackson has made songs that will be forever known regardless of how old you are and what year you were born in.
Michael made songs like "Billie Jean", "Thriller", "Don't Stop Til U Get Enough", "Lady in My Life", etc.....If you are a musician you cannot say that Michael Jackson wasn't an influence to you. Michael Jackson was a gifted and talented black man who brought success, perseverance, and history...Michael Jackson was someone that cannot be duplicated or recreated. He was our Beethoven.
He has a legacy that will never EVER die....and he has put in a chapter in the Music History books. From Jackson 5, to solo..Michael was the best damn thing to ever happen to our lives. He is a household name that will never go away. I pray to God that when he blesses me with children that they have an impression of who the King of MUSIC (not pop..) was. He OWNED R&B, HE OWNED POP, HE OWNED ROCK, HE OWNED HIP HOP...he even OWNED COUNTRY music.
MAYBE THIS IS A WAKE UP CALL FOR ALL OF THOSE ARTISTS WHO DON'T TAKE MUSIC SERIOUSLY...CAN'T YOU SEE THAT GOD IS TRYING TO SPEAK TO YOU?

My Personal Thoughts on Suite 12
What's up yall what's up? I am just chillin right now in the DMV writing to you on the future plans of my solo discography.
There has been so much going on this year musicwise, I personally feel like I have accomplished a lot as a musician from producing 7 compilations and releasing one solo album I just want this next one to be really REALLY dope.
My definition of dope in this case is to have Suite 12 like put me on the map nationwide because Suite 11 introduced me as DJ iShine and Suite 12 I plan this album to soar to greater heights I am talking help me out with networking, radio play, and more production affiliates.
The sound of this album is still up in the air honestly, I do not know which path to take. It is really (at times) difficult proving yourself as a instrumental musician rather than a vocalist. It still does remain legit that one can exist without the other...My points be taken for example:
Shai- "If I Ever Fall in Love Again" (Acapella Song that reached high peaks on the billboard hot 100
This can be proven that this method of music can be done for such things as like Madavillian, DJ Alchemist, DJ Shadow, DJ JazzyJeff, Daft Punk, and Flying Lotus do this type of music as well.
I feel that my 2 biggest obstacles would be (1) misinterpretation and (2) genre placement
(1) Whenever I have requested to do a show as a DJ some venues take it as "DJ a set" rather than "Performing a Show". DJing a set means to play music for X amount of hours and to perform a show is to broadcast your music publicly to an audience on your behalf.
(2) I cannot control how people take my reception as a musician but to be quite frank, I do not like being placed under the techno/alternative section. I am an urban contemporary instrumentalist and I understand that the lack of vocal work makes a difference in a piece either it is for a good cause or a bad cause.
Bottom line is I am going to put a lot of thought and work into this album because I want this album to come hard onto the scene and really make a crushing impact. Expect this album next year for sure and in that time I will be working my a** off to come up with a strong musical concept because not all tracks are going to be final.

Can Chris Brown "Run It" Out of Trouble Yet?
To be Honest I do not know.
Chris Brown has definitely created a 180 on his career this year with the whole Rihanna case. You should already know the story but if you don't, Chris attacked Rihanna before/during the Grammy awards before attendance in his Lambo leaving Rihanna basically beatened up to a pulp (ouch that's the best way I can explain it). The court case has been pushed back many times due to Brown's attorney Mark Geragos and on June 22nd it should (hopefully) come to a conclusion. I recently heard now people are now threatening Chris Brown causing him [Chris] to be "paranoid" over the safety of his life.
THIS IS VERY WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS
1) If you do not have anything to do with a situation it is not none of your business to get involved (yeah I am sure the individuals who are chirpin care about Rihanna but to publicize something like that is very serious)
2) It is very wrong to hit someone, especially a girl
3) Hopefully we get some closure on this so these kids (they are only 20 and 21) can get back to making music and move on and learn from this situation

Well, It is officially 12:00 AM on Thursday and in 24 hours I will be home back in the DMV. I must say this year of college was very fun, I learned alot this year when it came to certain aspects of college life. I am not going into cliches like "How to study" and "being on my own" I just feel like this year made me grow even more as an individual and thanks to my circle of friends, DJ iShine is living and breathing and is ready for anything.
Here are my top moments of the year (No particular order)
- Having my own space now (I can't share my room with anyone, especially in college lol)
- Producing 7 compilations in a 9 month period
-Learning that not all girls are going to be nice to you lol...
-Learning that not all people are going to be nice to you
-Releasing my debut solo album "Suite 11" on April 21st 2009 (It's on the sidebar for a free download) [it is considered solo because I was originally an Episcopal High School Musician]
-Getting pranked by Germon...(he claimed that Angel went crazy)
-Being in my school newspaper (Expect more articles)
-When me, Jean, Russell and Acie were chilling and Jean went hysterical on Drake (Aubrey Graham)
-Being chosen as Treasurer for Hip Hop Congress next year
-Not following what everyone else does in college (the drinking, the weed, the intensive partying), instead sticking to my priorities and my goals
-Witnessing a riot at Palmerfest
-DC punking me as "5 seconds"...it's going to be 5 minutes next year watch lol
-DJing at Backdrop for Jean and DC (expect more of me, hopefully I make a headliner next year as an act)
-Trinity getting me Arizona Ice Tea from Arizona but she lied and actually went to the grocery store at OU to get it instead
-When me and Russell had a Bachelor Weekend I say...(1st we went to Redd's House Party then 2nd we (along with Trinity) walked all the way to the Alpha House to a party BUT the house was packed with freshman girls and greeks...(no room for us to get in lol)
-Jacob and Ben's infinite jokes (i.e. putting my name into wikipedia only to find a Norwegian Drummer and a DC superhero with the same name as me)
-Developed a public image thanks to Mylan
-Proving most of the people who didn't believe in me wrong by accentuating my DJ style as an artist
-Being able to watch Obama be elected president at 11:00 AM on November 4th 2009
-Teaching myself to break down barriers in general (with whatever)
-Being able to say "I am going to college" and I have a degree waiting for me as a certified Music Producer in 2012 AND a to be-Recording Contract as well
This book is only 1/4 full, I will be back next year on this same day to get at you about my favorite moments in college in 2010

Vanessa Simmons
The eldest child off of "Run's House", Vanessa Simmons definitely holds it down. Already 6 seasons deep into the show, Ms. Simmons and her sister Angela are owners and businesswomen of the Spinoff company Run Athletics, "Pastry Shoes". The company is geared towards women consumers and acts like the Lady Footlocker to Run Athletics. Being the daughter of a hip hop legend, Simmons shows herself to be a strong and independent black woman with so much potential in her later years. She also is a Ford Model and an actress (she starred on "Guiding Light"). Who can't blame her, she looks good at what she does and she stays true to that virtue!

In the meantime, Jean P, Russell and myself are going to BDubs tonight for some Wings and Drinks...Wings are 25 cents tonight so you know Imma be plowing down :-P. We trying to see who gonna win the game tonight between The Lakers and The Magics (I want the Lakers to win because the Magics messed up the Cavs...lol)

Dr. Dre (the GodFather of Hip Hop Beats) who has recently made an appearance in the "Dr. Pepper Drink Slow" Commercial actually leaked some of his album...Remember that part when he put the DP can on the turntable and that G-Funk/Hip Hop beat came on?
Well...That was his beat!!!
All I know is the track to be is called "Sh*t Popped Off" featuring T.I. (who is currently in Jail for Weapon possession). I got two theories why the song is just leaked
1) T.I. needs to be free to touch up his verse (not coming out for almost 8-12 months)

It is about 4 am on the last week of my first year of college and me and Jean P were talking about how much as individuals we have grown over the course of the year. I lost sleep tonight not because I would have had a bad dream but I lost sleep tonight because something is causing me distress...and it is fear..
I am not talking about being scared of traditional things (i.e. bugs, snakes, heights), I am scared of "support". Of course I know people are not always going to be won over by DJ iShine the musician but I hope they can respect Christopher Summers, the man. I told myself at the beginning of my music journey that I will not let anyone or anything come between me and my dreams and that means ANYONE...even if it is people that I hold dear to my heart...the one thing that they would need to understand is that their is something in MY heart to chase this dream and it would hurt if they didn't support me, but I would need to heal and continue forward on my journey.
This self promise is fueled through the death of my Grandmother, Joyce Anderson (rest in piece, I love you and I miss you every single day). She was a strong Jamaican woman who always gave me and my brother the confidence that we needed in our lives and she taught my mom and my dad that having to produce confidence in your children is one of the greatest recipes in becoming successful parents.. obviously this does make sense.
Because of this influence and impact of what my Grandmother had on me, I will never take no for an answer, I even stood up to people that I would NEVER thought that I would place in this position, and even lost some friendships on the way and gained some sort of "unlikeness", but it is okay because not everyone in the world is not going to be friendly and that's just something that I have comprehended.
The thing I find very amazing is that, why do the people that sh*t on the ones that are trying to reach their dreams are the same ones "riding their coatails" once the person reaches their dream? Barack Obama, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Tupac Shakur, Selina, Nick Cannon, Chris Rock, Beyonce, Eminem, Marvin Gaye, and even the newcomer Drake have been all at square one just starting out and trying to find their place in the world and the same people who disrespected their talents are now the same ones supporting them and appreciating their craft. This is one mystery that only God knows but I think it's best that the answer remains confidential. All I know is the same people who were not "on board" at the beginning of my DJ iShine career I feel that once my dream is reached, they will be the same ones having the songs I produce or host on their iPods and bragging "Oh I went to school with DJ iShine!"......God doesn't like ugly lol.
Anyways this ain't going to be the end of the road for my strengths and weaknesses there will be more to fill the book, but as a man I can't let that harm me and my craft and all I would want from you is your support OR even your disregard because both will push me even further. If this is the way some instances are supposed to be, so be it....I still love me by the end of the day and I thank God everyday for blessing me with my talents.

Tiring day
Wow...I love this thing lol. Already I got 3 posts on my blog. Right now I am in wendys about to eat then chill for the night because of exams. I am honestly ready to go home back to the DMV because I have so much things to do when I get home for DJ iShine. I am going to miss the crew tho....ain't going to see them for a whole 3 months but we got iChat so it's straight. All right....I am going to get off of this thing because I think I am rambling on (lol). Thanks for reading!
