What's up everyone, it's me again coming to you on a serious but humble standpoint..

On October 26th 2009 (at approximately 12:00 PM) I got a call from my mother in which to inform me that my Grandpa (Alva Anderson) passed away at the age of 85 years old in his home in Jamaica. This shocked me however two things prevented me from shedding tears (1) It was expected since the beginning of the new year and (2) He was in a lot of pain when he was alive and was depressed, so him passing was technically a good thing because he is now reunited with my Grandmother who died almost a decade ago...After many talks with my Dad and my brother and out of integrity, I will have to go down to Jamaica to bury my Grandfather because I was his eldest grandchild and it is "the right thing to do".

And it seems like things are becoming a little bit rocky within my organization. I was informed that one of my fellow exec board members isn't please with how I am holding down the Treasury position and claiming that he "doesn't mind taking my spot". I don't think it's important to name his name but then again it's not worth it. Since upon entering, I have been putting myself second for everything in that organization and now realizing that I need to help myself before I help others. As a result, I withdrew from my organization and I will return next school quarter so they can understand that they have a good treasurer and it's time for some people to MAN up about their problems and let it be known rather than hide behind someone else...

Which brings me to my key topic MANhood. Being a Man is all about knowing what's best for himself first before helping others and standing up for himself whenever there seems like something isn't right. A Man knows how to treat a lady right, be gentle with kids and in the meantime knows how to be fair with his fellow guys without coming off as a jackass. A man knows how to defend himself and will never throw the first punch. Overall, a Man is that one individual with a destiny that he would never let anyone or anything get in the way of. I honestly didn't want to fly down to Jamaica to bury my grandfather but I feel like there is a responsibility that my family is trying to teach me when it comes down to my morals. My grandfather was a kind, strong, and intelligent man who along with my grandmother gave birth to my Aunties and my Mom and through all that, I was born. Without my grandfather, there wouldn't be no DJ iShine, no College Student, No Brother, No Son, No Friend, No Cousin, and the list can go on and on....but let's not forget the key element, without my grandfather there would be NO MAN....

I know my grandfather would want me to be happy and living life to the fullest on my 20th birthday however things can't happen like that. Most men my age are either in the club, the bar, at a friends house, a girlfriend's house, or just home alone on their 20th birthday but on my 20th birthday it seems like I will have to be in Jamaica to part ways with my Grandfather because throughout it all, it's something called 'responsibility'.....You can't change the world until you can change yourself, but please understand I can't help you until I can help myself.

As of November 8th 2009, I will no longer be a teen...I will be considered a grown man now. All my life I was taught to help others and be kind but I have learned being kind is not always going to get you what you want. Just bear with me as I come of age and understand that to me this isn't something to be all sad about..it's just a symbolic event that has just happened.

In conclusion, no one should ever experience the tragedy of burying their late Grandfather on their 20th birthday but understand that as I continue to grow up and enter my 20s as a man, this is my life and I am the only one in charge of my decisions

REST IN PEACE GRANDPA...THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING (1924-2009)

My Goals for this Year

Man....I must have been really tired or something at 9:30 tonight. Here I am 6 hours later and I realized not all things are going to stay the same this year when it comes to friendships and whatsoever. It's like that Jadakiss song "He's phony, she's fake, that's the type of people I hate".

This is no stab at anyone in particular but if just something ain't cool between us anymore then you can let me know before just saying "aight peace" lol. It's not a big deal but it is best suggested to imply some closure to a former friendship instead of being petty online. God knows what's best for me, so I will be okay.

Which leads me to my title "My Goals for this Year".

My goals for this year are just simply put...

1) Believe in Myself. To simply put, I feel at times self vulnerable whenever it comes to things that seem like an obstacle for me. I need to stay positive this year and not let anyone tell me otherwise. If I make a mistake, then I will learn from it the good way or the bad way. I know it isn't a big deal but self believability is the only way to find your inner happiness within yourself, thus extracting your confidence.

2) Be a good friend. Because I already know I am a good family member, being a good friend is basically the rocky part of any type of setting you are in. My mission is not to surround myself with people who aren't really interested in being friends with me (example being...high school). I feel like college has given me a second chance at this instance and so far I have a good handful of friends and now my mission is just to be a good one back to them when they are to me. Along the way I plan to meet some new friends too.

3) Stay Healthy. I am going to listen to my mom this year when she calls me to tell me to "Wear 3 layers of shirts" when it is winter season lol. But on the real, just take my vitamins during the day, get my rest at night, HAVE breakfast weekly, and resist any fighting whatsoever. When you take your vitamins before you start school, you build up your immune system and minimize STRESS which causes you to be sick. I am getting back into my sleeping hours now and even if I have an afternoon class the next day, I will still fall asleep around 11 or 12 nightly like i did in high school lol. I am going to begin to eat my breakfast every morning before 9 so I can get my nutrients to process during the day (I learned that I produce better grades when I eat breakfast). My mission at school is not to fight anyone by any means that's why I say I am a "lover not a fighter" lol but If I am threatened or am hit first, I will defend myself.

4) Avoid Drama. The one thing I do not want or need in my college life. I had some of it last year but that was just plain bullshit so I dont play to be involved with it this year. If I sense something is up, I will just separate myself from the situation before it gets worse. Unfortunately I cannot wish for this to happen but just staying keen and ready is all I would need to do.

5) Step Out the Box. At times I feel like I am just another person in the crowd when it comes to social gatherings. This isn't a bad thing but it isn't a good thing either. I tend to be more independent when I am at home...now it is time for me to do that at school. Ladies will get to know Chris I. Summers, and not DJ iShine (like his boys do lol). I will rekindle my relationship with ACRN and get to know some cats in that organization and not stay that close to HHC/HHS. I know Je'an P and Russell (my bros) are holding down Hip Hop Shop this year, but I know as a solo act I can be more than just a 10 minute open mic act. I will be lining up some shows at school independently, with Money Mike. I have been talking with my boy James Anderson and Daron about trying to do some house shows too. I have to go out there and chase the dream, it's no fun if it comes to me.

It's almost 4 o'clock and I am going to head back to bed because I have a workout tomorrow. I hope you enjoyed reading this and have a better impression of me and my plans for the upcoming year

Michael Jackson's final burial on August 29th

It has been officially declared that on August 29th, Michael Jackson will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in LA. August 29th would have marked MJ's 51st birthday, but instead it will mark his first birthday in behalf of his passing. God should be taking good care of him now, most believe he should be happy residing in heaven...he has been for a little into 2 months now..

He may be "gone to soon", but "Thriller Suite" will be released on August 29th at approximately 11pm, 12am (nextday), 1am, or 2am. Due to processing the mixtape. The mixtape will be all of the Thriller Songs remade into hip hop/r&b instrumentals with just me and the king of pop on it lol (even though I didn't physically work with him, I am glad to be another musician to collaborate).
